  • This restaurant is at one of the corners in Old Sacramento. We ordered at the restaurant’s door and there are outdoor seating area on the patio. The service was good and pretty fast. - Indonesian fried chicken: good. The chicken meat was tender and we could taste the spices of marinade in the meat. I wish that they cooked the meat a bit longer so it had crispy skin. - Chicken satay: good. The meat was tender and flavorful. The peanut sauce was good but I wish that it had chunks of peanut. - Lontong sayur: very good. The soup was creamy and flavorful. - Es cendol: good and perfect for a hot day! The cendol was chewy and plenty. The coconut milk was perfectly sweetened.

  • As an Indonesian, I approve the foods and sweet drinks. It reminds us of home. The lady is very kind too! If you want to get a taste of Indonesian food, please try this restaurant

  • I enjoyed the Sate Ayam and the lemper. The lemper had a wonderful subtle sweet combo of lemongrass and coconut milk. Not as tight as I’m accustomed to but the flavors are there. The pickled veggies served with the Sate Ayam and rice were crisp and sharply pickled, a nice accent to the milder chicken and rice. I enjoyed the saté and the fact that it wasn’t overcooked and dried out. Friendly and quick service. A wonderful “taste of home.” Enjoyed it and will be back!

  • I’ve been here 4 times in two months and I live over an hour away! I also take my family and friends here. I love most of the food here and here’s my review… Bali Kitchen is located in the beautiful Old Town Sacramento, close to all the candy, toy, and other fun shops. Street parking can be hard to find during busy hours. There is a parking garage nearby that charges $1.50 per half hour. There is outdoor seating only, so bring a jacket if you go when it’s cold. Sometimes the staff isn’t right by the door, so ring the bell! My friend and I tried the Nasi Goreng / Fried Rice, Tofu Curry, and Goat Soup / Soto Kambing, Resoles, Es Cendol. The Es Cendol needs a little bit more brown sugar. Resoles was good but not amazing. So they weren’t my favorite. My friend liked the tofu curry because it felt fresh. The Nasi Goreng was pretty good. My favorite was the Goat Soup, I ordered another order for to-go so that I can have it at home. The next few times I went with family and friends and ordered more dishes. We liked the Nasi Uduk and Es Kelapa drink. Bakmi Goreng was pretty good too! Can’t wait to come back!

  • We enjoyed our meals. The chicken curry had very good flavor. Lamb satay sauce was good, with fennel/licorice hint. Also the lumpia hearty and filling. The price was high, but probably in line with other business in Old Town. The disposable plates and utensils was a nice touch of the home made nature of the restaurant. You want good food, not all the stuff surrounding that does not matter.

  • Bali Kitchen in Old Sacramento is one of those restaurants that feels like a true hidden gem. Walking in, the space is small and unassuming, but once the food arrives, you know you’ve found something special. I ordered their mango salad, and I can honestly say it was one of the best salads I’ve ever had. The flavors were bold, refreshing, and beautifully balanced between sweet, tangy, and savory. For the main course, I went with a chicken satay dish, and the peanut sauce was rich, creamy, and packed with flavor. The skewers were cooked perfectly, tender and juicy with just the right amount of char. What stood out most to me was the authenticity - the dishes didn’t feel watered down or overly Americanized. It truly felt like Indonesian home cooking brought to life in Sacramento. The staff were kind and welcoming, making sure we had everything we needed. I left feeling like I’d discovered something rare and authentic that I’d want to share with friends. Bali Kitchen may be small, but it delivers big on flavor and authenticity.
